NJHL Meeting Honoring P.O. Lisojo – Newark PD

Over 180 family, friends, and members of the Law Enforcement Community were in attendance during the January 28th meeting of “The Honor Legion of the Police Departments of the State of N.J. (NJHL) held at “The Empire Club” in Little Ferry honoring P.O. Melvin Lisojo of the Newark PD, KIA 6/24/03.  The NJHL “Certificate of Merit” was presented to P.O. Lisojo’s family, which included his mother, Mrs. Maria Lisojo, and brother, Mr. Rene Lisojo, who is also a Newark Officer.

The only raffle sponsored was a 50-50 in which the NJHL agreed beforehand to donate its share of the proceeds to the trust fund for P.O. Lisojo’s children established by the Hispanic Law Enforcement Society of Essex County. The winner, Mr. Ed. Brady from McInerney, Brady & Co. (who is also the NJHL accountant), graciously “donated back” his $350 winnings, allowing for a total contribution of $700 to be made to the trust fund.
