New Membership Information: Due to a recent By-Laws change (9/25/2002), honorably retired Law Enforcement Officers are now eligible to join the NJHL.
All membership rights, privileges, and benefits will be afforded to them EXCEPT the death assistance contribution (DAC). Any Person who is a bona-fide active and paid member, or honorably retired from of any regular Law Enforcement Agency, who has risked his/her life to save a human life, or whose life has been in imminent risk of danger from an armed adversary, shall be eligible to apply for active
membership in the Association Please note that there are three distinctly different New Member applications: - Active Member with NJ Jurisdiction
You are a active and paid member
of a NJ Law Enforcement Agency, LEO’s of the Port Authority Police Department or any other BI-State Agency with statutory jurisdiction in NJ will be considered in this category, regardless of your duty station or residence. Federal LEO’s must live or work in NJ to be eligible for the DAC. - Active Member without NJ Jurisdiction:
You
are an active and paid member of an Agency without jurisdiction in NJ, or you are a Federal LEO who does not live or work in NJ. - Retired Member:
You are formerly an active and paid member of a Law Enforcement Agency and are honorably retired from the same.
